There are a few exceptions to these recipes, which include some of the desserts that use raw cane sugar, the bagels and the breads. These are clearly marked by a red [not for Daniel Diet] indication. Otherwise you can relax and enjoy these meals. After your three-week diet, you will want to continue to use these recipes because they are healthy! They are good for you, and they also taste good.
So here is want you can eat when you are following the Daniel Diet:
Eat This:Vegetables and fruits All types, however we recommend seasonal, locally grown, fruit and vegetables for better nutrient assimilation. Choose organically grown produce for those that have a high EWG pesticide rating. |
Do Not Eat This:Fruit spreads that contains added sweeteners Deep-fried vegetables such as French fried, onion rings, tempura or chips |
Eat This:Whole grains - protein |
Do Not Eat This:Breads that contain yeast and leavened, including white, brown, and Ezekiel bread Refined grains, white rice, pasta |
Eat This:Beans and peas - protein (also called legumes) all types |
Do Not Eat This:Refried beans (typically contain fat solids) |
Eat This:Nuts and seeds - protein All types - dry roasted or raw |
Do Not Eat This:Fried nut or roasted with oil |
Eat This:Healthy Oils Olive, sesame, canola, coconut, grape seed, flax seed, and peanut Notes: 1-Flax seed oil is never heated. Use with salads, smoothies, or pour on warm cereal or cooked vegetables. 2-Peanut oil is more difficult to digest and should not be your primary choice for oil. |
Do Not Eat This:Vegetable oil, lard, soul, margarine, butter, or shortening |
Eat This:Beverages Pure Water, spring water, distilled water, fresh fruit or vegetable juice made from your juicer |
Do Not Eat This:Sugar-sweetened beverages, juice drinks, coffee, tea, soda, and alcohol of any kind |
Eat This:Spices & flavorings Including salt and pepper |
Do Not Eat This:
Additives, like MSG, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, sugar, stevia, agave nectar, and syrups |
Meat is not part of the Daniel Fast. This includes, beef, buffalo, fish, lamb, pork, poultry. Also excluded from the diet are those by-products of animals, for example dairy milk, butter, cheese and eggs.
